salve-amicus:

Anti-rape wear. Its almost impervious to knife attacks and tearing/stretching.

The waist and thigh extremities of the garment are cut and tear resistant (the guy in the video can’t cut them with industrial scissors) and they cannot be moved more than a few centimetres when locked into place, the forward area in front of the genitals is also reinforced.

Please, for the love of god, even if you can’t donate, just spread this idea wherever you can, they need $50,000 to be able to manufacture it and they currently have just over $6,000 with 20 days left.

Go to igg.me/at/AR-Wear to donate and/or view their full info.

katelucia:

Jada Pinkett-Smith is aware of the critics that frown up their noses at the way she raises her daughter, Willow. Willow cuts, dyes and styles her hair as she pleases, a fact that bothers many who feel girls shouldn’t have that much control over their appearance at such a young age.
Jada decided to address the criticism in a Facebook post:

“A letter to a friend…This subject is old but I have never answered it in its entirety. And even with this post it will remain incomplete. The question why I would LET Willow cut her hair. First the LET must be challenged. This is a world where women, girls are constantly reminded that they don’t belong to themselves; that their bodies are not their own, nor their power or self determination. I made a promise to endow my little girl with the power to always know that her body, spirit and her mind are HER domain. Willow cut her hair because her beauty, her value, her worth is not measured by the length of her hair. It’s also a statement that claims that even little girls have the RIGHT to own themselves and should not be a slave to even their mother’s deepest insecurities, hopes and desires. Even little girls should not be a slave to the preconceived ideas of what a culture believes a little girl should be.”

Total respect.

Not only was she the first female writer to make the Forbes billionaires list, she then became one of the very few people to take herself off that list by giving so much to charity that it actually made a dent in her fortune.

And she gets it. There aren’t enough generous billionaires in the world who remember where they came from, therefore private charity isn’t the ultimate (only) answer to poverty like some politicians would have us believe. We are all interconnected, we all need each other, in democratic countries we are part of the government, and so keeping needy people from falling into complete destitution and despair is an important and worthy role for government to take. It benefits all of us in the long run. And nobody who feels comfortable and secure now (fewer and fewer of those people around these days) has any guarantee they won’t need help themselves someday.

JK Rowling…reason numbers 2.7 billion why I adore this woman.

A loss to the literary world: Professor, poet and diplomat Kofi Awoonor, one of Ghana’s most famous writers, was killed in Kenya’s Westgate Mall shootings on Saturday. He was to speak as part of the mall’s Storymoja Hay Festival, intended to boost literacy rates among Kenyan children, when he was killed in the still-ongoing attack. The news was announced by Ghana’s president early Sunday.

Terrible, just terrible.

Harvard University Announcement: No tuition and no student loans

by Harlem World Magazine
Harvard University announced over the weekend that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families will pay no tuition. In making the announcement, Harvard’s president Lawrence H. Summers said, “When only ten percent of the students in elite higher education come from families in the lower half of the income distribution, we are not doing enough. We are not doing enough in bringing elite higher education to the lower half of the income distribution.”
If you know of a family earning less than $60,000 a year with an honor student graduating from high school soon, Harvard University wants to pay the tuition.  [Continue reading at Harlem World Magazine.]

Last weekend, 300 kids/students broke in and vandalized this residence that has been our home since 1981.

They were drinking (underage), doing drugs, selling drugs and destroying property.  It looks like there was over $20,000 in damage to the home, and we’ve yet to determine the cost of all the items

GUYS THIS IS SHAMEFUL

THESE KIDS BROKE INTO SOMEONE’S HOUSE AND HAD A 300 PEOPLE PARTY, STOLE THINGS, VANDALIZED HIS HOUSE, DID DRUGS, ROOFIES, DRANK ALCOHOL, EVERYTHING.

THERE’S ABOUT 20,000 DOLLARS OF DAMAGE AND WHEN BRIAN HOLLOWAY, KIND SOUL THAT HE IS, MADE A DAY/WEBSITE (helpmesave300.com) TO HAVE EVERYONE HELP CLEAN UP HIS HOUSE—

50 PEOPLE SHOWED UP AND ONLY ONE OF THEM WAS AT THE PARTY.

THAT IS DISGUSTING AND EMBARRASSING.

SPREAD THE WORD.

DON’T LET THEM THINK IT WAS “A FUCKING GREAT PARTY” BECAUSE WE ARE DECENT HUMAN BEINGS AND WE DON’T SUPPORT THIS KIND OF SHIT.

even better, the parents of said 300 kids have been threatening him with a lawsuit for re-posting the images the kids shared on twitter themselves

it’s fucked up no matter how you look at it

"I’m angry about honor killings. I’m angry that in Islamic theocracies, women who have sex outside marriage, women who date outside their religion, women who spend time with male friends, women who disobey their male relatives, are routinely executed. I’m angry that in these theocracies, even women who have been raped get executed for the crime of adultery. I’m angry that the ones who are only beaten and imprisoned are the ones who get off lucky."

"I’m angry about what happened to Jessica Ahlquist. I’m angry that, in a public, taxpayer-paid high school in Rhode Island, a banner with an official school prayer was prominently posted in the school auditorium — in direct violation of the Constitution and of clear, well-established legal precedent. I’m angry that when Ahlquist asked her high school to take down the banner, her request was rejected, and she had to go to court to get her school to comply with the law. And I’m angry that, when she won her lawsuit — in an entirely unsurprising, non-controversial ruling — she was targeted with a barrage of brutal threats, including threats of beating, rape, and death."

I have just been sitting and staring at this for the longest time. I mean, LOOK AT IT. Look how outstanding this animation is. All by hand. The way her hair moves, the way the lines in that skirt move, everything is perfect. It’s hypnotizing.

Oh my gosh this is incredible. Just wow. All the respect for the talented guys who did this.
